1. BOOK ONE: PARTY TIME – RHYTHM STYLE PIANO

Book One introduces you to both the program and the keyboard. The core principle of Pianoforall is to start with chords and rhythms, creating a foundation before diving into improvisation, melody, and sight-reading. This book covers basic piano posture, practice tips, and introduces the sustain pedal, which is often overlooked. After learning some three-note chords and rhythm basics, you’ll dive into musical notation. Rather than focusing on lengthy note-naming exercises, you’ll quickly move on to playing songs using rhythm and chord combinations, learning a total of 15 rhythms and 11 chords. Most of the songs are traditional and older standards, which may be less exciting for younger players, but the skills gained set a solid foundation for the rest of the course.

2. BOOK TWO: BLUES & ROCK N ROLL

Building on your knowledge, Book Two introduces blues rhythms, emphasizing practice on the left hand until you can play them effortlessly. Though brief, it covers seven blues rhythms and how to play a twelve-bar blues in any key.

3. BOOK FOUR: CHORD MAGIC

Heavily focused on chords, Book Four dives into chord theory, covering nearly every major and minor chord. This section is ideal for those interested in transposing songs, though some may find it a bit overwhelming.

4. BOOK FIVE: ADVANCED CHORDS

This book advances your chord skills with a “magic formula” for bluffing more complex chords. Featuring a Barry Manilow-inspired composition exercise, it encourages creativity, though younger learners might find the reference less relatable. You’ll also explore diminished chords, cluster chords, and Beatles-style playing.

5. BOOKS SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT, NINE: STYLES

Each of these books covers a unique style: Ballad, Jazz, Advanced Blues, and Classical Piano, respectively. Book Six teaches ballad-style improvisation, including melody and chord progression ideas. Book Seven delves into jazz and blues, encouraging a natural approach by listening to and mimicking audio clips. Book Eight introduces stride piano and concludes with the well-loved “The Entertainer.” Book Nine revisits sheet music reading, classical pieces, and key techniques for those interested in playing more classical music.

6. BOOK TEN: SPEED LEARNING

Book Ten, titled “Speed Learning,” focuses on scales, triads, and arpeggios. A structured practice routine is introduced in C major, then expanded to other keys, blending classical scales with blues and jazz workouts for a well-rounded approach to skill improvement.
